How Pump.fun Trending Works: What the Feed Shows

Pump.fun trending is a list the site builds from its own trading data, and the exact formula is not public. What is public is the feed behind the list: for every coin it reports volume over 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour and 24 hours, trades in the last five minutes, holder count, age and launch stage. Coins in the top 20 are busy on several of these at once.

The short version

  • The ranking rule is private; the inputs the feed exposes are not.
  • The order is not a plain sort by volume, and the live board proves it most hours.
  • Short windows matter: five-minute volume and five-minute trade count move fastest.
  • Holder count and age describe the coin; they change slowly or not at all.

What is the Pump.fun trending board?

When you open Pump.fun, one of the first lists you see is the trending row. It is a short, ordered set of coins that the site considers the most active right now. For a new token it is the closest thing Pump.fun has to a front page: the coins on it get looked at, clicked and shared, and the coins that are not on it have to be found some other way.

The website fills that row from a trending feed. The feed is the same data the page draws, just without the design, and it returns a few dozen entries with a set of numbers for each. PumpTrending reads it every 90 seconds and keeps only the Solana coins, which is where the top 20 medians on our home page come from.

Which numbers does the feed report for each coin?

Here are the fields that matter for a token team, with the values reported for the number one coin in our 16 October 2026, 14:09 UTC snapshot so you can see real magnitudes rather than placeholders.

Trending feed fields, with the top coin (FTR) as the example
FieldWhat it meansExample (rank 1)
Volume, 5 minutes SOL traded in the last five minutes915.6 SOL
Volume, 15 minutes SOL traded in the last fifteen minutes1,513.3 SOL
Volume, 1 hour SOL traded in the last hour5,351 SOL
Trades, 5 minutes Number of buys and sells in the last five minutes901
Holders Wallets holding the token right now19,457
Top 10 share Percent of supply held by the ten largest wallets11.8%
Age Time since the token launched2 days
Stage Bonding curve, or graduated to a poolgraduated

The feed also carries 24-hour volume, market cap, all-time high, lifetime buy and sell counts and a few flags such as whether the coin is live streaming. We leave those out of the table because they describe a coin's history rather than what it is doing in the moment the list is built.

Is the board just a ranking by volume?

No, and you can check this yourself on most readings. In our 16 October 2026, 14:09 UTC snapshot, MEMEOS sat at number 15 with 57 SOL of volume in the past hour, while GOMO sat lower, at number 16, with 419 SOL. If the board were a plain volume ranking, those two would be the other way round.

That gap is the important part. It means the board weighs more than one number, and it probably weighs short windows heavily, because a coin with a quiet hour but a busy last five minutes can still sit near the top. What we cannot tell you is the exact blend, and nobody outside Pump.fun can either. Anyone quoting you a precise formula is guessing.

What do coins on the board have in common?

Looking at the top 20 as a group is more useful than looking at any one coin. In the 16 October 2026, 14:09 UTC snapshot the median coin on the board traded 41.6 SOL in five minutes and 456 SOL in an hour, printed 66 trades per five minutes and had 1,517 holders. 8 of the 20 were less than a day old and 6 were more than a week old, so age alone does not keep a coin off the list.

  • Busy in the same five minutes. The coins are active right now, not just active today.
  • Many separate traders. Across the ten highest coins, a sample of their last 100 trades typically came from 78 different wallets.
  • A real holder base. Hundreds or thousands of holders, rather than a few dozen.
  • A page worth opening. Art, a description and links. The feed cannot measure this, but visitors who click through do.

How do you compare your own token with the board?

The fastest way is the console. Paste the mint and it reads the same numbers for your token that the feed reports for the coins on the board, then shows them side by side with the board median. If you prefer to do it by hand, open your token on Pump.fun and note the five-minute volume and trade count, then compare them with the latest medians in the board data.

  1. Read your five-minute numbers

Volume and trade count over the last five minutes are the figures furthest from the board for most new tokens.

  2. Check holders

If the board median is in the thousands and your token has forty holders, that gap will not close in one hour.

  3. Pick a window

Decide whether you need one concentrated hour or a slower pace over several hours, and time it with your own launch post or community call.

Pump.fun publishes some technical documentation about its programs in a public repository, which is worth reading for how the bonding curve and graduation work. It does not describe the trending formula.

Questions and answers

Does Pump.fun publish its trending formula?

No. The ranking rule is private and can change without notice. What anyone can see is the data the trending feed returns for each coin, which tells you what the board tracks but not how much weight each number carries.

Which number matters most for Pump.fun trending?

Nobody outside Pump.fun knows the weights. In practice the coins on the board stand out most on short windows, five-minute volume and five-minute trade count, and the order is clearly not a plain sort by one-hour volume.

Can an older token trend on Pump.fun?

Yes. Older coins appear on the board regularly. In the 16 October 2026, 14:09 UTC snapshot, 6 of the top 20 were more than a week old. What they share with new coins is a burst of current activity, not a recent launch date.

Do replies and favorites affect trending?

The trending feed does not report replies or favorites as fields, so we cannot say they are part of the ranking. They do matter to the visitors who click through from the board, because a page with an active conversation keeps people longer than an empty one.

How long does a coin stay on the Pump.fun board?

It varies from minutes to many hours, because the list is rebuilt from current activity. PumpTrending is logging the board every hour so this can be measured properly over time; the running record is in the hourly CSV on the board data page.

Read your token the way the board does

The console reads the same feed fields for your token and puts them next to the board median, so you can see the gap in five-minute volume, trades and holders before deciding on a package.
